For the last decade, Stacey has served as senior counsel and legal strategist to Irving Picard as Trustee, and his Chief Counsel, David Sheehan, in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. This liquidation involved a global effort to recover funds for the victims of the largest Ponzi scheme in history totaling more than $65 billion. As part of that representation, Stacey litigates against hedge funds, funds of funds, investment banks, financial institutions, investment managers and others.&nbsp;

<li>Lead partner representing the Trustee at oral argument in his efforts to consolidate, both substantively and procedurally, 150 proceedings on the issue of the scope and duration of the Ponzi scheme perpetuated by Bernard Madoff.</li>
<li>Lead partner in charge of complex litigations against global financial institutions involving derivative securities and swap transactions.</li>
<li>Retains, manages, directs and supervises expert witnesses and litigation consultants in several areas including due diligence, forensic accounting, fraud examination, investment management and derivative securities.</li>
<li>Key member of the trial teams litigating the actions against the owners of the New York Mets in Picard v. Katz, et al. and former key Madoff employees and “insiders” to the Ponzi scheme.</li>
<li>Developing case-wide protocols and best practices for the litigation teams regarding working and communicating with testifying experts and litigation consultants.</li>
<li>First and second chaired depositions and witness interviews of key former Madoff employees who participated in the Madoff Ponzi scheme, including the global mastermind of the scheme himself, Bernard Madoff, his comptroller and his second-in-command.</li>
