Courtney's litigation expertise spans a broad range of matters, including claims of fraud, catastrophic injury and wrongful death, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of covenants not to compete, tortious interference with contracts and civil conspiracy. She also has significant experience litigating intellectual property disputes, including trade secret misappropriation and copyright, trademark and patent infringement.

Certified in Labor and Employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Courtney is a trusted advisor to individuals, corporations and government entities. She guides clients through every stage of litigation, from pre-suit risk management to trial and appeal. She has first-chaired numerous labor and employment-related cases involving claims asserted under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Equal Pay Act, 42 U.S.C. § 1983, the Texas Whistleblower Act, the Texas Labor Code and employment agreements.

In addition, Courtney provides counsel on issues concerning compliance with employment-related statutes, conducts internal investigations, prepares policies and procedures for employers, and provides employee training.

Courtney is a Litigation Council of America fellow, was named a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine from 2017 to 2022 and has been recognized multiple times by Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America®.

<li>Obtained a take nothing jury verdict on behalf of a global real estate investment firm and its principals in defense of contract and tort claims seeking $1.2 billion in damages following a five-week trial.</li>
<li>Obtained a take nothing jury verdict on behalf of the world’s largest video game developer and a subsidiary studio, creators of the wildly successful Call of Duty® franchise, in defense of a copyright infringement claim asserted by a former professional wrestling personality.</li>
<li>Obtained a take nothing jury verdict on behalf of a national non-profit company and its CEO in defense of antitrust conspiracy and tortious interference claims in excess of $224 million following a three-week trial.</li>
<li>Obtained a take nothing jury verdict on behalf of a public hospital in a Texas Whistleblower Act action brought by a former employee.</li>
<li>Obtained a $4.8 million jury verdict on behalf of a patent holder in a patent infringement action against the world’s third-largest video game developer.</li>
<li>Obtained a take nothing jury verdict on behalf of a global synthetic turf manufacturer on three of four claims asserted by a local school district, the fourth of which was reversed and judgment was rendered on client’s behalf following appeal.</li>
<li>Successfully represented the nation’s largest public sector software solutions company in a multiday arbitration alleging breach of contract.</li>
<li>Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a financial services firm against former employee’s claims asserted under the Americans with Disabilities Act.</li>
<li>Obtained summary judgment on behalf of employer against former employee alleging failure to accommodate under the Americans with Disabilities Act and discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII, which was affirmed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.</li>
<li>Obtained dismissal of claims asserted under the Americans with Disabilities Act on behalf of a national hotel franchisor.</li>
<li>Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a public hospital in defense of race discrimination and retaliation claims, which was affirmed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.</li>
<li>Obtained voluntary dismissal of three of four claims, and summary judgment and award of costs on sole remaining claim in favor of an employer in case alleging retaliation under Title VII.</li>
<li>Successfully resolved claims brought on behalf of client against a former business associate alleging breach of contract, fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets and trademark infringement.</li>
<li>Obtained a nuisance-value settlement on behalf of an employer on the eve of trial in suit alleging claims of race discrimination and retaliation in violation of Title VII.</li>
<li>Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a Fortune 500 company in defense of discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII, affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.</li>
