Alaina has represented clients in a multitude of cases pending in district court, before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and in matters before the U.S. Supreme Court. She provides strategic leadership for her litigation teams with a focus on delivering solutions that best support each client’s broader business objectives, ensuring that her legal approaches align with practical, commercial needs. She has handled every aspect of litigation — including drafting complaints, managing discovery, working with experts, preparing for and participating in trial, navigating post trial proceedings and handling appeals.

In addition to her practice, Alaina serves as an adjunct professor at Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where she teaches Patent Litigation. Her teaching deepens her engagement with the evolving landscape of patent law and reinforces her command of cutting edge litigation strategies. This academic work not only enhances her ability to anticipate emerging legal trends but also enriches the counsel she provides to clients by integrating both doctrinal insights and real world litigation experience.

Alaina is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and serves as the co-chair of the Philadelphia Chapter of the ChIPs Network, which promotes women in technology, law and policy.

<li>Member of a patent litigation team that won an infringement verdict before a jury in the Northern District of Illinois and successfully defended against claims of invalidity at trial.</li>
<li>Member of a patent litigation team that appealed four PTAB decisions to the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of a Chicago-based software company. After the team successfully argued that the patents-at-issue were not covered business method review patents, all four decisions were vacated.</li>
<li>Member of a patent litigation team that represented a Fortune 100 company in district court and before the Patent Trial and Appeals Board (PTAB). After successfully arguing for a stay pending <em>inter partes</em> review, the team convinced the PTAB to invalidate all of the claims asserted in the patent litigation.</li>
<li>Member of a patent litigation team that defended one of the nation&#8217;s largest cable companies in litigation involving remote control technology. The team successfully convinced the district court to grant summary judgment of noninfringement in favor of the client.</li>
<li>Representing multiple clients, including a Fortune 500 company and a Chicago-based software company, in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Participated in all aspects of the appeal process, from preparing the notice of appeal to filing the final appendix.</li>
<li>Member of a patent litigation team that represented a Fortune 500 company in litigation involving MP3 technology. The team successfully achieved a favorable settlement for the client.</li>
<li>Member of a patent litigation team representing a multinational company against an industry competitor.</li>
<li>Member of a patent litigation team representing a Fortune 500 company in a declaratory judgment action that was filed after defendants brought suit against the client’s customers.</li>
