Peter’s discussion with LaHood focuses on the <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/05/18/trump-tcja-tax-cuts-are-slated-to-expire-after-next-year.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">expiration in 2025 of key provisions</a> of the Trump-era <a href="https://taxfoundation.org/taxedu/glossary/tax-cuts-and-jobs-act/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tax Cuts and Jobs Act</a>, which would <a href="https://www.crfb.org/blogs/tcja-extension-could-add-4-5-trillion-deficits" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">trigger more than $4 trillion in tax increases</a>, and the link to next year’s tax issue to the <a href="https://www.pgpf.org/national-debt-clock" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">nation’s current $34 trillion national debt</a>.

Congressman LaHood also had insightful comments on how U.S. companies should be thinking about their investments and supply chains in China as well as other strategic threats to the United States from malign actor states.
