Affinity Groups

We have seven affinity groups, enabling our attorneys to share experiences and interests, collaborate, network, and partner with clients and outside organizations that are equally committed to increasing inclusion and diversity in the legal profession. These are the Women’s Committee and the Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian/South Pacific, Disabilities, Active Military/Veteran and LGBTQ+ groups.

Inclusion and Diversity Committee

The firmwide Inclusion and Diversity Committee, which has been in existence for more than 25 years, is made up of office-level inclusion and diversity committee leaders from across the firm. The office-based committees help foster inclusion and community at each of BakerHostetler’s locations. The firmwide committee also serves as a bridge between the Diversity Council and each of the firm’s offices to support the firm’s inclusion and diversity goals through sponsorship, networking, training and community outreach.

Diversity Council

Our Diversity Council is composed of affinity group leaders and an allies representative. The council provides strategic guidance on firm initiatives and programming in collaboration with our director of inclusion and diversity and the chair of the Diversity Council.

Talent Initiatives

New Parent Program: Peer and partner mentors offer support and advocacy to new parents before, during and after their leave, helping smooth these transitions and ensure adequate return-to-work project pipelines and opportunities. Parents coming back from extended leave may receive individualized work-life integration coaching from an outside consultant.

Partnerships: BakerHostetler is an active sponsor or member of numerous organizations working to improve inclusion and diversity in the legal profession. Many of our attorneys hold leadership positions on local, regional and national levels. These include, among others, The National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, Corporate Counsel Women of Color, the Diversity &amp; Flexibility Alliance, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Council of Urban Professionals, the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, the Transgender Legal Defense &amp; Education Fund, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the Human Rights Campaign and The Veterans Consortium.
